Investigating the Investigators: Lords to question Panorama

The House of Lords Select Committee on Communications will take evidence from a panel of broadcast editors and a panel of broadcast journalists on Tuesday 18 October 2011 as part of its inquiry looking at the future of investigative journalism

The meetings take place on Tuesday 18 October in Committee Room 2 of the House of Lords.
At 3.30 pm it will question:
- Dorothy Byrne, Head of News & Current Affairs, Channel 4
- Tom Giles, BBC Panorama
- Ian Squires, Controller of Current Affairs & News Operations, ITV
The committee will take evidence about the role of investigative journalism, how it differs between broadcast and print media, and the concept of how far it is acceptable to go to get a story.
At 4.30 pm it will question:
- John Ware, Panorama
- Ray Fitzwalter, former World in Action reporter/editor
The committee will pose questions on subjects such as the methods and techniques used by investigative programme makers, and whether regulation would affect the way that programmes are made.
The meetings will take place on Tuesday 18 October in Committee Room 2 of the House of Lords.
