Lords probe Private Eye and others on investigations and stings

The House of Lords Select Committee on Communications will hear evidence from Mr Ian Hislop, Editor, Private Eye, and Mr Alan Rusbridger, Editor, The Guardian as part of its inquiry into the future of investigative journalism

At 4.30 pm:
- Mr Nick Davies, journalist, The Guardian
- Ms Clare Sambrook, Winner of the Paul Foot Award and the Bevins Prize for outstanding investigative journalism
The Committee will question Ian Hislop and Alan Rusbridger about the role of investigative journalism in society, opportunities and threats to traditional practices of investigative journalism and the importance of this type of journalism in conducting investigations that are in the public interest.
The Committee will hear from investigative journalists Nick Davies and Clare Sambrook about methods of investigative journalism, whether there is a role for social media within the field, and how investigative journalism is paid for.
