Charities and DFID - how do our aid partners work?

Save the Children, Christian Aid, and Practical Action will give evidence about development aid to the House of Lords Economic Affairs Committee on Tuesday 13 September.
The committee is conducting an inquiry into the economics of development aid, and it will ask representatives from the organisations about aid issues including:
- How aid supports growth and development in the world’s poorest countries
- How effective the Department for International Development (DFID) is
- Whether British taxpayers understand and support British aid policy
DFID has stressed that value for money and effectiveness are important considerations in both its own, and its partners, aid efforts. The committee will ask the NGOs about their relationships with DFID, and what kind of scrutiny is involved in the development of these partnerships.
