Experts on electoral registration questioned

Purpose of the session
The purpose of the session is to hear from experts on electoral registration as an introduction to the Committee’s scrutiny of the draft legislative provisions on Individual Electoral Registration published by the Government in June. The Committee will want to explore what the impact of the provisions would be likely to be, and how any risks might be mitigated. The Committee is also scrutinising draft provisions of the Government’s proposals on other aspects of electoral administration (such as the timetable for general elections), but this session is unlikely to focus on these.
The two witnesses previously gave evidence together to the Committee in September 2010 on the Parliamentary Voting System and Constituencies Bill.
