Chair's comments

Committee Chair Rt Hon Keith Vaz MP said:

"It seems that every time the Committee thinks UKBA has revealed the full-scale of its backlogs, another is discovered.

The Chief Inspector has recently produced two damning reports on the Agency's failures, on the asylum backlog and on student visas. He found that the Agency had misled the Committee over the scale of the asylum backlog and security checks carried out on cases placed in the controlled archive.

We will be asking the Chief Executive and the new Immigration Minister about these issues, as well as wider problems with the Agency’s performance"
