The House of Lords Secondary Legislation Scrutiny Committee took evidence from Oliver Letwin MP, Minister for Government Policy, as part of their inquiry into the new “Consultation Principles” announced by the Government in July.

The Committee asked Mr Letwin why the Government has chosen to replace the 2008 Code of Practice on consultation with the new ”Consultation Principles” and what difference he expects to see in the outcomes.
The Secondary Legislation Scrutiny Committee issued a call for evidence on 30 October which has produced some excellent contributions and the Committee will draw on these in their questions. These included some of the following topics:
