The role and future of the Commonwealth

Senator Hugh Segal, will give evidence to the Foreign Affairs Committee as part of its inquiry into “The role and future of the Commonwealth”. Part of this inquiry will examine what the UK Government should be doing to push for any necessary reforms of the Commonwealth. Senator Segal will be the first witness to the inquiry.

Senator Segal was a member of the Eminent Persons Group which put forward proposals for reform to the recent Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Perth. Following the CHOGM, Senator Segal has been appointed as Canada’s Special Envoy, to make the case for reform of the Commonwealth.
