To coincide with National Apprenticeship Week 2012 (6 – 10 February), the Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) Committee has today announced it is extending the deadline for written evidence to be submitted with regards to its inquiry into apprenticeships until Friday 10 February, 2012.

Commenting on the extension, the Chairman of the BIS Committee, Adrian Bailey MP, said:

“We want to receive as much evidence as possible.

“Respondents could, and indeed should, include companies of all sizes - from large corporations to the smallest SMEs - as well as people who have previously been enrolled on apprenticeship schemes, those who are currently enrolled and those who are thinking about enrolling in the future.

“National Apprenticeship week provides a tremendous platform for the BIS Committee to reach a broad range of interested parties across the country and to raise awareness about our inquiry.

“Apprenticeships have been in the news a lot recently and the Committee will certainly be looking at many of the issues raised during our forthcoming evidence sessions, the dates of which will be announced soon.”

The BIS Committee’s inquiry into Apprenticeships was announced on 21 December, 2011.

The original deadline for written submissions was set for Friday 3 February, 2012.

The terms of reference can be found at the link below: http://www.parliament.uk/business/committees/committees-a-z/commons-select/business-innovation-and-skills/inquiries/parliament-2010/apprenticeships/

Written evidence should now be sent to the Committee at biscommem@parliament.uk  by close of business on Friday 10 February, 2012.

Please note that select committees are unable to investigate individual cases.
