The Joint Committee on the Draft House of Lords Reform Bill hears from Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg and the Minister for Political and Constitutional Reform Mark Harper.

Witnesses

On Monday 27 February 2012 at 4.35 p.m. in Committee Room 4a:

  • Rt Hon Mr Nick Clegg MP, Deputy Prime Minister
  • Mr Mark Harper MP, Minister for Political and Constitutional Reform

Issues

In what will be the Committee's last evidence session as part of its scrutiny of the draft Bill, it is expected that the Deputy Prime Minister will be asked whether the Government have the political will to pass a House of Lords Reform Bill through both Houses of Parliament.

In addition, he is likely to be asked about the relationship between the two chambers, and the possibility that a reformed House of Lords will become an 'opposing' rather than 'revising' chamber.
