Oral Evidence Session

Tuesday 17 January 2012 at 11.30 am
Committee Room 15

Purpose of session:

The session gives the Committee the opportunity to explore with the new head of the National Crime Agency his initial thoughts on his important role.

Keith Bristow took up his post in December 2011. The Agency will be established in Spring 2012 and is expected to become fully operational by the end of 2013.

Witnesses:

11.30 am
• Keith Bristow QPM, National Crime Agency Director General

Committee Chair Rt Hon Keith Vaz MP said:

"The National Crime Agency will be a crucial element of the new landscape of policing.  It will take over from the Serious Organised Crime Agency—a body that the Committee has had some concerns about in the past.  We will be questioning Mr Bristow about his new role and the actions he plans to take to ensure the new National Crime Agency is fit for purpose.”
