MPs question AC Cressida Dick
20 January 2012
The Home Affairs Committee questions Cressida Dick, Metropolitan Police Specialist Operations
Tuesday 24 January 2012 at 12.15pm in the Wilson Room, Portcullis House
Purpose of session
Cressida Dick is Assistant Commissioner with responsibility for Specialist Operations, a post she took up in August 2011, following the resignation of John Yates. She is also Chair of the ACPO Terrorism and Allied Matters (TAM) Business Group. She has also been acting Deputy Commissioner of the Met between December 2011 and 22 January 2012. This session provides an opportunity for the Committee to question Cressida Dick about counter-terrorism preparations for the Olympics, the replacement regime for control orders, and pre-charge detention periods.
Comments from the Chair
Committee Chair Rt Hon Keith Vaz MP said:
“2012 is going to be a hugely important year for counter-terrorism, with the Olympic and Paralympic Games, and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
In light of the recent increases in security staff needed for the Olympics and the rising costs, this is an opportunity for the Committee to get an update on how preparations are progressing.
We will also look to find out how some of the aspects of the Government’s counter-terrorism review, such as the replacement regime for control orders, are going to affect the Met’s ability to counter terrorism.”
