Joint Committee on Lords Reform to hear from David Blunkett and Lord Pannick

The Joint Committee on the draft House of Lords Reform Bill will next week take evidence from former Home Secretary David Blunkett MP, legal expert Lord Pannick, Lord Cunningham of Felling, former Chair of the Joint Committee on Conventions that reported in 2006, and former Chief Whip in the Lords Lord Grocott.

Issues

The Committee are expected to ask the witnesses for their views on how the relationship between the House of Commons and a reformed House of Lords might change, how far existing conventions between the Houses could be maintained, and whether the transitional arrangements suggested by the Government are appropriate.
