The future of the EU’s military capability is increasingly important as Member States reduce their own military spending at the same time as the US also reduces defence spending and refocuses its priorities on the Asia Pacific region.
The evidence session is the last of the Committee’s inquiry and they will question Mr Howarth on the Government’s position on increased pooling of military resources with other EU Member States and how Member States can develop their military capabilities to meet current rather than Cold War priorities.
