HM Treasury: Progress on implementing recommendations from the Committee of Public Accounts and the National Audit Office

A statement from The Rt Hon Margaret Hodge MP, Chair of the Committee of Public Accounts:

day’s publication is a welcome and important step forward in the scrutiny and accountability of government spending.

The Committee of Public Accounts expects Whitehall officials to attain high standards in public administration and for its recommendations to be taken seriously. HM Treasury has agreed with the Committee to publish how departments have implemented the recommendations we make. The publication of today’s Treasury Minute allows the Committee to review what action has been taken to address the issues we have raised.

Where we do not believe that progress is being made quickly enough, we will look to recall witnesses to explain their actions.

The publication is available to read on the HM Treasury website.
