Minister to give evidence on the Data Protection Draft Directive

Crispin Blunt MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Justice is to appear before the European Scrutiny Committee on Wednesday 11 July.

The session with Mr Blunt is likely to look at Government processes surrounding the recent debate on Data Protection in the Areas of Police and Criminal Justice (EU Document No. 5833/12) and the Government’s decision not to exercise its right to opt out of the draft Directive under Protocol 19 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (The Schengen Protocol), as well as related opt-in matters.

He will give evidence on Wednesday 11 July at 2.30pm, in a Committee Room at the House of Commons.  The public are welcome to attend.
