The Public Administration Select Committee (PASC) is launching a programme of work on statistics and their use in Government.

The Committee intends to conduct its scrutiny by means of ten short "studies", each of which focuses on a discrete topic. For some of these studies the Committee will take both written and oral evidence, but for others the Committee will pursue its investigation in writing alone.

Today, PASC is announcing the subjects for all ten of its studies and calling for written evidence on one of them. Calls for evidence on other topics will be issued at intervals throughout the current Session.

If you have informed views on the issues raised in the attached paper, PASC would like to hear from you. The deadline for writing to us is by midday on Friday 3 August 2012 by e-mail to pascev@parliament.uk

Information on how to respond is in the Issues and Questions paper (PDF).
