Administration Committee publishes report on rules relating to TV coverage

The Administration Committee today publishes a short report proposing minor changes to the rules relating to TV coverage of the House of Commons

The rules, in place since TV broadcasting began in 1989, ensure that the broadcasts provide a record of all speeches made, and that will continue to be the main principle employed in selecting shots for broadcast. But the Committee advises some light simplification of the rules and proposes a small-scale experiment in changing camera angles in the Chamber to see whether improved pictures are possible.
