Big companies questioned on private investigation

The Home Affairs Committee takes evidence from three of the larger companies involved in private investigation work: Kroll, Control Risks and the Risk Advisory Group.

The Committee is keen to get their perspective on the issues surrounding regulation of the private investigation industry and the obstacles that have prevented an effective system of regulation from being implemented to date

The Committee will also be hearing from the lawyer Charlotte Harris about her experiences of being subject to surveillance by a private investigator.

Committee Chair Rt Hon Keith Vaz MP said:

"These companies highlight that the industry is very diverse, and can involve big businesses, as well as lone operatives. We look forward to questioning these companies about why they think regulation of the private investigation industry has not succeeded so far.
We have already heard about some of the darker aspects of the private investigation industry. The session will be a chance to hear from Charlotte Harris, the lawyer, who was subject to surveillance by a private investigator, about her experiences."
