The Committee takes evidence from the Financial Secretary to the Treasury on Government’s position on the monetary and fiscal possibilities.

Evidence session

Wednesday 14 March at 2.30pm from:

Rt hon. Mark Hoban MP, Financial Secretary to the Treasury, and officials, HM Treasury.

This meeting will be held in a Committee room at the House of Commons. The public are welcome to attend.

Background

Following the European Council on 8–9 December and recent events in the eurozone, the Committee decided to take evidence in public on how the resolution of the eurozone crisis is developing and the possible consequences for the UK. The Committee is examining what we see as the crux of the problem, that is, how to reconcile the necessary monetary and fiscal policies, based initially on the statement of 9 December by the Euro Heads of State or Government, with the legal and institutional constraints.

Transcripts from previous sessions are available on the publication page.
