Cabinet Office Permanent Secretary questioned on Government efficiency

The Committee will take evidence from Ian Watmore, the Permanent Secretary to the Cabinet Office in a one-off evidence session as part of its scrutiny of the work of the Cabinet Office. Mr Watmore took up the role of Permanent Secretary on 1 January 2012, following the retirement of Lord O’Donnell. The Committee will hear from Mr Watmore about his experience of his new role and examine the progress of the Cabinet Office against its business plan. The session takes place on Tuesday 13 March 2012 in Committee Room 16.
Particular issues to be explored may include:
- Progress on plans to reform the Civil Service;
- the work of the Efficiency and Reform Group in reducing administrative costs across government; and
- how the Cabinet Office coordinates departmental business plans across Whitehall.
