This will be the Committee’s third evidence session of its inquiry into the Business Appointment Rules: the rules that govern the take-up of jobs by former ministers and crown servants. The Committee will hear from Peter Campbell, who was a Special Adviser to the Prime Minister between May 2010 and October 2011. This session takes place on Thursday 22 March 2012 in Committee Room 16.

The Committee will question Mr Campbell about his experience of the Business Appointment Rules system. Particular issues to be explored may include:

  • Whether the current Business Appointment Rules system is working effectively;
  • The membership of the Advisory Committee on Business Appointments, who provide advice on the Business Appointment Rules; and
  • the impact of the Business Appointment Rules on the ability of special advisers to secure employment when they have leave public service;

Witness:

  • Peter Campbell, Former Special Adviser, Number 10 Downing Street
