Call for evidence for pre-legislative scrutiny into draft Energy Bill

The Energy and Climate Change Committee will hold an inquiry to examine the draft Energy Bill with a view to reporting soon after the House rises for the summer recess
In Her Majesty’s Most Gracious Speech to both Houses of Parliament on 9 May 2012, it was announced:
"My Government will propose reform of the electricity market to deliver secure, clean and affordable electricity and ensure prices are fair."
The Department For Energy And Climate Change subsequently issued a press notice indicating that it would be publishing a draft Bill for pre-legislative scrutiny.
The Energy and Climate Change Committee will hold an inquiry to examine the draft Bill with a view to reporting soon after the House rises for the summer recess (17 July). This is to ensure that the Committee’s conclusions and recommendations can feed into preparations for the introduction of a real Bill in the autumn.
The Committee invites submissions of written evidence on any aspect of the draft Bill, and plans to hear oral evidence in June.
As the draft Bill has not yet been published and the timescale for this inquiry is extremely tight, the Committee will accept written evidence throughout the inquiry [note- the Committee has finished taking evidence on this inquiry]. However, evidence received by 4 June will be most useful in informing oral evidence sessions.
