Education Committee announces its future programme of oral evidence sessions

- Child protection in England (final session of the inquiry): oral evidence from Tim Loughton MP
- Purpose of the session: This is the ninth and final session in the Committee’s inquiry into the child protection system. The aim of today’s session is to probe Government policy on and future plans for child protection with the Minister with lead responsibility.

- Administration of the DfE: one-off oral evidence from (i) Sir David Bell and Jon Coles; (ii) Chris Wormald
- Purpose of the session: Following its session with the Department for Education’s non-executive Board members last year, the Committee will take evidence from the current and immediate past Permanent Secretaries, and a former Director General, on the running of the DfE.

- SEN (Special Educational Needs): one-off oral evidence from (i) representatives of parents, educators and academia, and (ii) Sarah Teather MP
- Purpose of the session: The Committee will take evidence from experts in the field of SEN, following the recent publications of the DfE’s ‘progress and next steps’ report in this area. The Committee will also hear from the responsible Minister, Sarah Teather.
