The first panel will consider the decision of the Honours Forfeiture Committee to recommend that Fred Goodwin’s knighthood should be cancelled and annulled. Members will take evidence from Lord Digby Jones, former Director of the CBI and Minister of State for Trade and Investment; and former Chancellor of the Exchequer, Alistair Darling MP, both of whom have raised concerns about the honours forfeiture process.

The Committee will then take evidence on proposals to reform the way honours are awarded from John Lidstone, a commentator on the honours system; and Graham Smith, Chief Executive Officer of the pressure group Republic.
