Sir Bob Kerslake questioned on the Honours System

The Committee will take evidence from Sir Bob Kerslake, the Head of the Civil Service who chairs the Main Honours Committee and the Honours Forfeiture Committee. This session takes place on Tuesday 22 May 2012 in Committee Room 15.

Members will also question two of the independent chairs of specialist honours committees, Dame Mary Marsh, Chair of the State Honours Committee, and Sir John Parker, Chair of the economy Honours Committee, as well as the Head of Honours Secretariat in the Cabinet Office about the process for selecting recipients of honours and proposals for reforming the honours system.

Particular issues to be explored may include:

• How to increase public confidence in the award of honours
• the establishment of the Parliamentary and Political Service Honours Committee; and
• the work of the Honours Forfeiture Committee.
