Committee Chair Rt Hon Keith Vaz MP said:
“With the publication of the Hillsborough Independent Panel report, chief officers under investigation and police morale and public confidence at a new low, it is more important than ever for there to be robust oversight of the police.
We will be asking the Director of Public Prosecutions and the top officials at the IPCC what they need to make sure that the perpetrators of the Hillsborough cover up can be brought to justice. We will also be asking how we can ensure that the IPCC are able to conduct fair and effective investigations and public faith can be restored.
We will take the opportunity to ask the DPP what action he is taking to assist the child abuse inquiries that are currently ongoing.”
