Oral evidence: The Silk Commission: Financial Devolution in Wales

Welsh Affairs Committee to take evidence from the Silk Commission on financial devolution in Wales

Following today’s publication of the Commission on Devolution in Wales (“the Silk Commission”) report into financial powers to strengthen Wales, the Welsh Affairs Committee has announced it will take oral evidence from Paul Silk, Chair of the Commission, on Tuesday 18 December at 10.30am at the House of Commons. The Committee will question Mr Silk on his findings relating to financial devolution in Wales, the next steps in the process, and his thoughts as the Silk Commission begins work on Part 2 which will examine the case for devolution of non-financial powers.

The Committee will also question the Secretary of State for Wales, the Rt Hon David Jones MP, about the Silk Commission Report (and a range of other issues) when he gives evidence on Tuesday 11 December at 3.00 pm.

The Committee’s oral evidence schedule until Christmas is as follows:

  • Tuesday 27 Nov, 10.30 am – The future of dairy farming in Wales: including evidence from David Heath MP, Minister of State, Defra
  • Tuesday 18 Dec, 10.30 am – Paul Silk, Commission on Devolution in Wales
