Minister for Employment gives evidence on Work Capability Assessment

The Work and Pensions Committee is to hold a one-off evidence session on the Work Capability Assessment (WCA) for Employment and Support Allowance (ESA).

The purpose of the session is principally to follow up on issues raised in the Committee’s 2011 report on the Incapacity Benefits reassessment, including: steps taken to improve the WCA; DWP’s management of the contract for medical services; the ESA appeals process; and interaction between the WCA and the Work Programme.
