The House will debate the Committee's report on its work during 2010-12 on Monday, 26 November in Grand Committee. We expect the debate to commence at about 5.00 pm.

The Report on 2010-12 summarised not only the key scrutiny and inquiry work conducted during the session, but also the means by which the Committee held the UK Government to account and worked with the EU institutions and other national parliaments. The debate will allow the House to discuss how scrutiny is conducted, how the Committee works to influence policy at an early stage, and the key issues for the Committee's current scrutiny work.

Speakers in the debate will include:

  • The Chairman, Lord Boswell of Aynho;
  • The Chairman of the External Affairs Sub-Committee, Lord Teverson;
  • The Chairman of the Home Affairs Sub-Committee, Lord Hannay of Chiswick;
  • Lord Jay of Ewelme; and
  • Baroness Parminter
