Tuesday 23 October 2012 at 15.45
Venue: Committee Room 15, Palace of Westminster
Witnesses:
3.45 pm
- Jon Brown, Head of Strategy & Development, Sexual Abuse, NSPCC
- Sue Minto, Head, ChildLine
- Michelle Lee-Izu, Director, Barnardo’s South East
Committee Chair Rt Hon Keith Vaz MP said:
“We have heard from the Children’s Commissioner that the exploitation of children is a serious nationwide problem. However, as the evidence we heard from the Chief Constable of South Yorkshire demonstrated, not all police forces are managing to prosecute those responsible.
The Committee will be asking the charities that work with vulnerable young people on the front line about their experiences of this horrific issue, and how it can be tackled effectively."
