Committee investigate deaths in custody

The Committee continues its work on the Independent Police Complaints Commission, hearing from INQUEST; Marcia Rigg, the sister of Sean Rigg, who died in police custody in 2008; and Matilda MacAttram, founder and director of Black Mental Health.

In this session we will be asking whether race and mental illness play a role in the way police treat victims and suspects and in how complaints are dealt with by the Commission.
Following the death of her brother Sean in custody, we will be very interested to hear Marcia Rigg’s firsthand experience of dealing with IPCC.”
