The work of the Local Government Ombudsman: Local Government Ombudsman Response

The Communities and Local Government Committee is today publishing its First Special Report of Session 2012–13, The work of the Local Government Ombudsman: Local Government Ombudsman Response to the Committee's Third Report of Session 2012–13 (HC 615).

Launching the report, Clive Betts, chair of the committee said:

"We welcome the positive response made by the Local Government Ombudsman to our report  and the commitment made to address most of the issues highlighted  by our conclusions and in our key recommendations.

We are pleased particularly that in future the LGO intends to commission an annual external review and regular customer and staff surveys. We look forward to reviewing progress made to deliver changes in complaint handling and dispute resolution alongside cost savings through both restructuring and the implementation of a new business model for the LGO."

Following publication the report is available on the internet and will be accessible via the Committee's webpages.

Printed copies of the Report may be obtained, on publication, from the usual outlets, including The Parliamentary Bookshop and The Stationery Office (reference: Fourth Report of the Committee, Session 2012–13, HC 553).
