Purpose of the Session

This is the first evidence session in the Committee’s inquiry into Careers Guidance for Young People. The Committee will explore with the first panel the extent to which the current provision of careers guidance meets the needs of those "receiving" young people emerging from school, as well as the needs of the young people themselves.

The second panel of witnesses will help the Committee to examine the response of local authorities to the transfer of the duty to schools and to explore how they view their role, in particular the provision of targeted guidance to vulnerable groups.
