Committee Chairman Rt Hon Keith Vaz MP said:
“The Committee will take evidence from leading academics at Oxford University and Chatham House. We will discuss key issues raised in our inquiry to date such as privacy and security on social networks, digital forensics, measuring the cost of e-Crime and international cooperation.
We will also take evidence from the financial industry. Card fraud costs the UK £340m a year and a recent survey by Which? found that four out of ten respondents had been victims - the majority were still in possession of their cards when they were targeted. It is important that banks and card providers ensure they have the best security systems in place and have efficient arrangements for refunding customers who may have been victims. We will be discussing these issues with the industry’s representatives; the British Bankers Association and Financial Fraud Action UK.”
