Unlike other Select Committees, the Backbench Business Committee is required to be reconstituted in each session, with Members put forward from their parties while the election for the Chair is held shortly after the Queen’s Speech.
Details for the election of the chair of the Backbench Business Committee for the 2013-4 session will be announced in due course, following the Queen’s Speech.
The House of Commons prorogued on Thursday 25 April, and will meet again for the State Opening of Parliament on Wednesday 8 May.
