Energy Minister to give evidence on long-term nuclear strategy

The House of Lords Science and Technology Committee is to question the Rt Hon Michael Fallon MP, Minister of State for Energy, on the Government’s roll-out of its nuclear energy strategy.

On Tuesday 10 December the Committee will hold a one-off evidence session to scrutinise what progress the Government has made on its long-term nuclear strategy.

Background
In November 2011 the Committee published its report “Nuclear research and development capabilities”, which concluded that the Government was neglecting to lead and coordinate nuclear research and development (R&D) activities.
The Government subsequently issued a response which laid out its commitment to developing a new long-term strategy to 2050 and beyond.
