Lords to take evidence from WRAP

The House of Lords EU Sub-Committee on Agriculture, Fisheries, Environment and Energy will this week take evidence from the Waste and Resource Action Programme (WRAP) as part of its inquiry into the EU’s contribution to food waste prevention.

The Committee are looking into the EU's contribution to food waste prevention in light of its aspiration to half food waste by 2020.
Witnesses
From 10.30am,Wednesday 4 December, Committee Room 2, Palace of Westminster evidence will be heard from:
- Dr Elizabeth Goodwin, Chief Executive Officer, WRAP
- Andrew Parry, Special Advisor on Food and Drink, WRAP
- Patrick Mahon, Government Affairs Analyst, WRAP
Areas the Committee will cover with the witnesses include:
- when the UK can expect to achieve a 50% reduction in food waste on 2007 levels;
- whether supermarkets across the EU should be required to release information on food waste;
- how food waste in schools, hospitals and public sector restaurants can be effectively tackled; and
- why there has been a decline in the rate of reducing food waste in recent years.
