On 6 September 2012, the Business, Innovation and Skills Committee published its fourth report of the 2012-13 session, Overseas Students and Net Migration.

On Tuesday 26 February, the Government published its response to the Committee's Report.

The Committee today publishes a Report responding to the Government response.

Report: Too Little, Too Late: Committee's observations on the Government Response to the Report on Overseas Students and Net Migration

The Report highlights both the lateness of, and lack of detail contained within, the Government response.  It also challenges a number of assertions made by the Government and once again urges it to change course and exclude overseas students from its net-migration targets.

In the Committee's original Report, Overseas Students and Net Migration, the Committee recommended that:

"For domestic policy purposes, overseas students should be recorded under a separate classification and not be counted against the overall limit on net migration."
