Lords Science Committee to publish open access report

The House of Lords Science and Technology Committee will publish its report on the implementation of the Government’s open access policy on Friday 22 February.
The Committee decided to hold a short inquiry into the implementation of the Government’s open access policy, which would make research council funded, peer-reviewed journal articles available online at no cost to readers, following concerns raised by the academic and publishing communities.
The Committee heard evidence over two days from a number of witnesses including Professor Dame Janet Finch - whose independent working group had made recommendations on the implementation of an open access policy, David Willetts MP, Minister for Science and Universities, the Publishers Association, Research Councils UK and leading universities.
