The Political and Constitutional Reform Committee will hold an oral evidence session on its inquiry into Role and powers of the Prime Minister.

The Committee will be discussing the impact of coalition government on the exercise of the Prime Minister’s prerogative powers, and on the way in which the Prime Minister carries out his role more generally.

The Committee will consider whether there would be advantages in defining the Prime Minister’s role, and whether the Prime Minister should be directly elected.
