This is the third session of PASC’s inquiry into public procurement. It aims to examine the procurement issues faced one of the largest procurement departments in Government, the Ministry of Defence, whose procurement spending accounts for almost half the total procurement spending by central government. This session takes place on Tuesday 26 February in Committee Room 16, Palace of Westminster.

Particular issues to be explored may include:

  • the development of defence procurement strategy and operation over the past decade
  • the barriers to more effective public procurement
  • commercial skills and capability within the Ministry of Defence
  • the strengths and weaknesses of the ‘Government Owned, Commercially Operated’ (GOCO) model of procurement
  • the impact that EU regulations have on UK business
