Rotherham Council Chief Executive appears before Committee

The Home Affairs Committee takes evidence from the Chief Executive and the Strategic Director for Children and Young People's Services of Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council as part of its inquiry into localised grooming.
Recent newspaper reports have suggested that there has long been a culture of localised grooming in Rotherham. The Committee will ascertain whether adequate protection was provided to those in need of it and how the Council supported the victims of localised grooming.

Committee Chair Rt Hon Keith Vaz MP said:
"Rotherham Council has been accused of failing to protect young people in the local area who suffered from horrific sexual abuse. We will be asking who knew what, and when and why no action was taken for so many years.
We will also be looking into what changes have taken place in order to support and protect victims of localised grooming."
