The Transport Committee is calling for evidence on Richard Brown’s review of rail franchising.

The Committee intends to hold a short inquiry, following up its Rail 2020 report. Written memoranda are invited by Friday 25 January.

Oral evidence

The following oral evidence session has been arranged for this inquiry:

Tuesday 15 January 2013 at 2.00 pm

Witness

  • Richard Brown CBE, Chairman, Eurostar International.

Further oral evidence will be arranged.

Transport Committee Chair Louise Ellman MP said:

"It is essential that the Government establishes a sustainable policy for rail franchising which delivers improved services to passengers and value for money. With most franchises being re-let over the next couple of years there is no scope for further error or delay. We want to hear the views of the rail industry, passenger groups and others before questioning the Secretary of State about the future of franchising and publishing our conclusions in the Spring."
