The Political and Constitutional Reform Committee will continue its scrutiny of the processes by which Parliament and Government can ensure standards in the quality of legislation.

Date and time: Thursday 10 January 2013 at 12.00 pm
Place: Committee room 8, Palace of Westminster.

Witnesses

At 12.00 pm:

  • Rt Hon. Andrew Lansley CBE MP, Leader of the House of Commons, Lord Privy Seal;
  • Adam Pile, Head of the Parliamentary Business and Legislation Secretariat, Economic and Domestic Secretariat, Cabinet Office.

This is the seventh and final session in the Committee’s inquiry into Ensuring Standards in the Quality of Legislation.

The Committee’s final evidence session focuses on the relationship between Parliament and the Executive. The Committee will be asking whether the Government recognises the problems our witnesses have identified with the quality of legislation, and discussing whether the ideas put forward by our witnesses would succeed in improving legislation. The Committee also seeks to answer the question of who in Government is responsible for ensuring standards in the quality of legislation.
