Euro area crisis: Follow up evidence sessions

On 22 January the House of Lords EU Economic and Financial Affairs Sub-Committee will hold its second update evidence session on the euro area crisis.

The Committee will question the witnesses on whether they are convinced by recent suggestions from the likes of Christine Lagarde and Mario Draghi that the eurozone has turned a corner and is moving toward an end of the financial crisis and well as whether eurozone countries have gone far enough to ensure their competitiveness.

The sessions will also touch on the Implications for the UK of steps towards greater economic and monetary union in the euro area.

At 10.30am the Committee will hear evidence from:

  • Professor Charles Goodhart, London School of Economics

At 11.30am the Committee will hear evidence from:

  • Professor Paul de Grauwe, Head of the European Institute, London School of Economics
  • John Peet, Europe Editor at The Economist

The Committee will meet in Committee Room 3, Palace of Westminster.
