The Transport Committee is today calling for evidence on the European Commission's proposal for legislation setting flight and duty time limitation (FTL) requirements for the crews of aeroplanes involved in commercial air transport

The Commission's forthcoming proposal will be based on an Opinion published by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) in October 2012. EASA's Opinion can be viewed online (PDF 391 KB).

Written evidence would be welcome on the Commission's forthcoming proposal from any individual or organisation potentially affected by, or with a view on, the Commission's proposals. We would be grateful to receive written submissions by Monday 5 August 2013.

The Committee's inquiry has arisen from a request by the House of Commons European Scrutiny Committee for a formal Opinion on this matter. The European Scrutiny Committee's report can be viewed online (PDF 587 KB).

Note: The Committee will not be taking oral evidence in relation to this inquiry. It expects to publish a report in September, in advance of a formal decision on the adoption of the new rules.
