As a result of the severe snowfall in March of this year, the Committee agreed to hold a follow-up to last year’s inquiry into the electricity grid in Scotland, to find out what lessons were learnt and what progress, if any, was made to enable the power companies, local authorities and consumers to cope better with this latest round of adverse conditions.
The inquiry will also explore related issues which accompany severe weather and loss of power, such as the maintenance of telephone networks and roads.
The Committee will hear from two major power companies on Wednesday 3 July.
