Public bill committee constitution and membership

Prof Tony Wright, former Member of Parliament and Chair of the Committee on Reform of the House of Commons; Dr Meg Russell, Reader in British and Comparative Politics, University College London.

Background

This is the first evidence session in the Committee’s inquiry into the constitution and membership of public bill committees. The evidence is likely to focus on the form these committees take and the way their members are chosen. The Procedure Committee undertook this inquiry with a view to increasing the transparency, effectiveness and accountability of public bill committees and their members.
