Knight Review of the Fire and Rescue authorities in England
6 June 2013
The Communities and Local Government Committee calls for submissions on Sir Ken Knight's Review of the Fire Service.
Background
Sir Ken Knight's report was published on 17 May 2013.
The review was requested by the Government who aim to respond later in the year. The terms of reference for the review were, 'to review the ways in which fire and rescue authorities may deliver further efficiencies and operational improvements without reducing the quality of front-line services to the public [and to] examine options for savings both within and beyond the current Spending Review period.'
Written submissions
The Committee plans to hold an oral evidence session with Sir Ken in July and invites interested parties to submit written evidence on his review.
Submissions and suggested questions should be sent to clgev@parliament.uk no later than 10am on 28 June 2013.
Notes for Editors:
Submissions of no more than 3,000 words are invited until 10am on 28 June 2013
Each submission should be labelled with the subject 'Knight Review/ Fire Services', sent to clgev@parliament.uk, attached in Word format (with as little use of colour or logos as possible) and be accompanied by a covering email containing the name and contact details of the individual submitting evidence. A detailed guide for written submissions to Select Committees may be found on the parliamentary website.
