Committee to launch inquiry later this year

Following the Chancellor’s announcement in the Spending Review that the Government is planning “the largest programme of investment in our roads for half a century”, the Chair of the Transport Committee, Louise Ellman MP, has said:

“An effective road network is essential for our economy and a strategic assessment of how best to provide this is long overdue. We will consider the Government’s forthcoming proposals for improving our roads, and the implications for all road users.”

This inquiry was outlined in the Committee’s recent report setting out its future work programme for 2013/14. The Committee will be issuing a detailed call for evidence later this year.
